The endemic vascular flora of the Canary Islands comprises about 577 taxa, according to the specific status, representing 40% of the total species cited for the archipelago. These figures place the Canary Islands as the richest island in the Macaronesian environment, resembling other oceanic archipelagos such as Galapagos and not far from those reached for the entire Mediterranean area.
